Welcome to my website for the 2012-13 school year! I have immensely enjoyed working with young artists at Daves Creek Elementary for the past 6 years; and, I look forward to being a part of their continued growth for this school year! It is exciting work to help the most imaginative artists of all, CHILDREN, explore their creative sides! It is quite a pleasure to see the amazing art that children produce!
During the next school year, we will continue to stretch our creative sides to explore the elements and principals of art using a variety of mediums. Studying the work of great artists will expand our knowledge of historical periods, as well as art history specifically. Many studies have shown that experiences in the arts expands and enriches a child's brain development. I look forward to being a part of that growth.
Just as creative as visual arts is the art of writing. This year content writing has been added to the schedule for Specials Classes for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders; and, I am excited to be the instructor for those classes. I want to keep the lines of communication open at all times because that will enable me to work toward the best interests of a child. Educational Experience:
Twenty-six years as a classroom teacher have been experienced as follows: First Grade - Four Years; Fourth Grade - Nine Years; Fifth Grade - Eight years; Art, K-5 - 5 Years.
Undergraduate work was completed at the University of Georgia in the areas of Advertising/Design and Art Education. Post-graduate work was done at Georgia Southern College in the area of Early Childhood Education.
