SOCIAL STUDIES: In the 4th Quarter, we will learn about the 1970's-present. We will learn about President Nixon's Watergate Scandel, President Carter's Camp David Accord, the Fall of Communism, the Persian Gulf War, 9-11-01 and the War Against Terror, the War in Afghanistan, and more!
SCIENCE: In the 4th Quarter, we will create Circuit Boards, have a day of Science Survivor, and explore our Health Curriculum.
Please remember that for every test, I provide every student with a Study Guide well before every test (usually the first day of the Unit). Your child should fill the study guide out throughout the Unit of Study (not wait until the night before the test). Also,
be aware that students may use any notes that they may have to help them on tests, including study guides and hand-written notes that they take in class. Students who choose not to use their notes on a Social Studies and/or Science test will receive 5 bonus points on their test. Also, remember that mastery re-tests are available for every assessment that I give, if your child does not achieve mastery on a particular test.
Remember, all students may access all social studies/science class notes, flipcharts, lesson summaries, review games, etc. on ANGEL. Furthermore, students may go to http://www.brainpop.com/ to review already learned concepts and quiz themselves. The FCSS user name and password can be found on ANGEL.
To access the Houghton Mifflin Social Studies/Science Textbooks online, go to www.eduplace.com/eservices. The district user name and password can be found on ANGEL. This is a great resource, as you can have the textbook lessons read back to you aloud. You can also play SOCIAL STUDIES/SCIENCE REVIEW GAMES, like “ewordgame” @ http://www.eduplace.com/kids/socsci/ga/books/bke2/
