Whitlow Elementary School Principal, Dr. Lynne Castleberry, was raised in Forsyth County and watched her mother work in Forsyth County Schools.  She saw how hard school employees worked and knew that teaching was not what she wanted to do.  Dr. Castleberry received her Bachelors at Brenau University, and later worked in the business world, but she soon realized she was missing something.  Dr. Castleberry spoke with Ms. Betty Benson, Associate Superintendent at the time, and decided to pursue a Masters in Education from Brenau University.  Then Dr. Castleberry received her Specialists in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia and her Ph.D. from Clemson University.

Dr. Castleberry knows she made the right decision. "Each day I get to come to work and see the most beautiful and capable children in the world.  Whitlow Elementary School is a wonderful place to work."  She adds, "I am most proud of the way our staff and community meet the needs of all students."
She strongly believes that Whitlow Elementary School provides the warm, community feeling, and that it is a great place for students to learn.  She also loves being a part of Forsyth County Schools.  She believes that the instructional resources, technology and professional learning opportunities are a big part of the philosophy of the school system. Because of this philosophy, Forsyth County Schools is set apart from all surrounding counties.
Everyday, Dr. Castleberry strives to be warm and welcoming to the community, her staff, and of course the students.

Freddie and I have been married for 30 years.  We live on a farm with cows, ducks, and two dogs - Maggie and Bo.  Maggie is an overweight eight year old schnauzer and Bo is a Yorkshire Terrier who thinks he is a Doberman.

We have two daughters. Casey  Cabral is a respiratory therapist at the Sheperd Spinal Center.  Her husband Rudy is currently in the Police Academy.

Carrie is a senior at Brenau University studying Occupational Therapy.  She is engaged to be married to Daniel Martin next August.   Daniel is a Senior at the University of Georgia.

For fun I love spend time in the North Georgia Mountains and on the beach.  I  enjoy hiking, trout fishing and flower gardening. My husband and I fish for sea trout and redfish in FL.   I love to read and do word puzzles.  My most favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family.
