Devereaux, Laura

My name is Laura Devereaux.  I have had the pleasure of teaching for the past 18 years! I became a teacher after graduating with a degree in early childhood education from The University of Georgia!  I have taught kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and currently 3rd grade.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time at my kid’s sporting events, and in the fall heading to Athens, to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs foot ball team.  In my free time, I love to run, bike, swim, cook, read, and shop!  I love teaching, and feel fortunate to have the opportunity to teach at such an amazing school!

I am very excited to be teaching at Sharon Elementary.  This is my 19th year of teaching elementary school in Georgia and New Hampshire!  I am married to my wonderful husband, John, and have 4 sons, Shane 19, Zachary 18, Ryan 12 and Kyle 6.  We are always busy and having fun with the family.  My favorite things to do are reading, hiking, boating, shopping and playing (or watching!) sports (especially the New England Patriots!).

I grew up in Pennsylvania and received my teaching degree at California University of PA.  After college, I moved to GA where I began my career teaching Kindergarten and 1st grade.  My family and I moved to NH for two years where I taught 2nd grade, then we moved back to GA for 3 years and I taught 3rd grade.  Our family missed the seasons and beauty of New England, so we moved back to NH for 3 years and I taught a year each in 1st grade, 2nd grade and 5th grade.  Even though we absolutely love New Hampshire we decided to move back (for good!) to be closer to family. We are excited to have made our home in Forsyth County.   I am absolutely thrilled to work with you and your child to make their 3rd grade year a wonderful experience.

Greer, Jessica

My name is Jessica Greer and I am new to Sharon Elementary and Georgia!  I received my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in Early Childhood Education.  After graduating, I began teaching second grade in the Knox County School District.  In 2010, my husband and I got married and he began pharmacy school in Memphis, Tennessee where I taught third grade in Memphis City Schools.  With his first year completed, we moved back to Knoxville to complete his remaining three years.   I began working again for Knox County School District and taught third grade for all three years.  While in Knox County, I have mentored first year teachers at the New Teacher Academy, revised and written science and math pacing guides, and have had many other opportunities to collaborate with teachers across the county.  In addition, this past year I was fortunate enough to be selected as the Teacher of the Year.  Education is where my heart is and I love each day in the classroom!

Originally, I am from Pittsburgh, PA making me a loyal Steelers fan.  During the fall my favorite hobby is watching football and cheering on my alma mater!  Additionally, my husband and I love spending time outside taking our four year beagle mix for walks and runs.  I love running and enjoy competing in 5K races and going on group runs.  Cooking is another one of my favorite pastimes, especially trying out new and different recipes

Welcome to Third Grade!  I'm thrilled to be spending the year with you.  We have many wonderful things planned and I can’t wait to get started!

I wanted to give you a little information about myself.  I was born and raised in Crystal City, Missouri where most of my family still resides.  Georgia has been home to me for the past twenty two years.  My husband Tyler and I have two amazing children.  Ally is in seventh grade at South Forsyth, and Tanner is a junior at Lambert.  Our family also has a precious rescue dog named Rooney.

I earned my Elementary Education Degree from Florida Southern in 1991.  I then went on to earn my Early Childhood Master’s Degree from Southeast Missouri State University while working as a graduate assistant volleyball coach.  This will be my sixteenth year in public education.   After taking some time off to be with my family I was hired at Sharon and taught third grade for three years.  Last year I made the jump to high school and taught special education math for a year.  I’m very happy to be back at Sharon teaching third grade again this year!

My active family and coaching keeps me VERY busy.  This will be my third year as the varsity volleyball coach at Lambert.  A lot of my time is spent in the stands cheering on Tanner and Ally as they play for their teams.  This is by far my favorite thing to do!

I'm really looking forward to a fabulous year in third grade!

Mike and I have three beautiful children. McKenzie is in 8th Grade, Michael is in 5th Grade, and Jack is in 3rd Grade. They are the loves of our live, and we enjoy every minute we spend with them! I am a huge sports fan. I love UGA football, watching my kids play sports, shopping, reading magazines, and I also love listening to country music.

This is my 17th year teaching in Forsyth County. I taught four years in Kindergarten, one year in 1st grade, and twelve years in 3rd grade. Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach such wonderful students. Sharon Elementary School is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.

In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect.  I work hard build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork.  I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers.  I believe that great things can happen when we work together! Sharon is a place where I really feel like part of a strong community and part of a winning team. This year will be fun and exciting.  I am committed to teaching your child in a positive, supportive, and loving environment in which every child is successful! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my love for learning with your child.

I am so happy to be at Sharon Elementary, working with the best staff, best parents and best students! I was born and raised in Ohio, but moved to Georgia with my family in 1984. After graduating from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, I began my teaching career in Cobb County. I taught 3rd grade (my favorite!) in the same school, even the same room for 10 years! During that time I met and married my husband, Jackson. We moved to Jacksonville, Florida and then Charleston, South Carolina. During my 8 years in Florida and South Carolina I continued teaching as a reading safety-net teacher, kindergarten special education teacher and a science lab instructor. Finally, 6 years ago, we made it back to Georgia! I worked again in Cobb County for 2 years as a science lab instructor. My love of science is enormous and I love to share my lab experiences with the students of Sharon! This will be my fourth year working here at Sharon and I am excited for my next group of third graders!

My home is a busy place with my husband, Jackson and my 3 children. My daughter, Rachel (18) is a freshman at the University of Tennessee. Emily (15) attends  Lambert High School. My youngest, Ryan is 12, and is a 7th grader at South Forsyth Middle. I also have a super cute Schnauzer named Quincy! I spend my weekends cheering for my children at all their sporting events, boating on Lake Lanier, taking Quincy to the dog park and now driving up to Tennessee to see my daughter!

Welcome to Third Grade! I am thrilled to be at the beginning of another school year! I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. Teaching is what I love to do and it's where my heart is. I love helping students learn, grow, and evolve as they continue on their educational journey. This school year marks my 9th year of teaching. I spent the first 6 years of my career teaching second grade in Jackson County. A few years ago I was very fortunate to become part of the Sharon family, while also being closer to home! This year is my 3rd year as a third grade teacher at Sharon Elementary. I could not be more proud to call myself a Sharon Knight!

I moved to Georgia a little over eight years ago and have loved living here! I am originally from NY, and went to college in Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, I earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Human Development. I later went on to earn a Masters degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. My husband Matt and I have been married for six years and we have three beautiful children. My step-daughter Dianna will be a 7th grader this year at Riverwatch; our son Matthew Jr. ("MJ") is 3 years old, and our youngest, Shea, is 8 months old. We also have two dogs, Stewie and Ollie. Outside of school, I love to spend time with my family, watch football (go Giants!), cook, and bake.

I am looking forward to a fun-filled year!
