Silver City Elementary Book Drive

It’s time for spring cleaning and what better way to help your school community than by donating your children’s books to the SCES Summer Reading Library Program. The purpose of the book drive is to provide free books to students to keep for summer reading and beyond. These are not library books that must be checked out, these are books for students to keep, if they choose. If students would like, they can return their book(s) back to SCES when they would like so that the books can be shared once again with other students.

We will be collecting used and new elementary-age books beginning April 24th through May 13th. The books will be collected in bins in our lobby, and then sorted so that students in each grade level will have an opportunity to choose (hopefully) at least one book to take home for summer reading and beyond.

The vision of the SCE library media program is to develop successful independent users of information and lifelong learners.

The media center is an information center that has over 16,000 traditional print materials such as books and reference materials, as well as current technology resources such as ebooks. The SCES library media program supports the classroom curriculum, Commom Core, integrates information literacy skills, promotes literature appreciation, and serves specific needs of students and teachers.
