Dear Piney Grove Parents,
My name is Angie Zobenica and I am the new School Nurse this year at Piney Grove Middle School. I am very excited to be a part of the Piney Grove team and look forward to working with our students, parents and staff this year. I am a Registered Nurse, and am also certified in stress management and as a yoga instructor.
Born and raised in northwest Indiana, I received my degree at Indiana University School of Nursing in 1997. I worked at the local hospital in various clinical settings upon graduation.
My husband, twin boys and I moved to Cumming in 2004 and I began working at Northside Hospital Forsyth. My experience and skills were in clinical settings as well as corporate community health screenings.
In 2011 I started taking my love for health and wellness into the community and began volunteering at the local boys and girls homes. What I realized through this opportunity, was that the work was very rewarding and that my life purpose included children. My passions for health, wellbeing and children have merged together beautifully as a middle school nurse.
I am very excited, blessed and honored to serve our young Grizzlies, their families and our Piney Grove staff.
The operative theme in all we do is “WELLNESS.” Children must be physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy so they are able to learn.
Services provided by school nurses include:
1. Promotion of healthy life styles.
2. Health care counseling or guidance to students, family, and staff.
3. Identify health concerns by observation and assessment of needs, and provide appropriate care.
4. Medication management
5. Immunization verification according to state guideline requirements.
6. Screenings: vision, hearing, scoliosis.
“ You cannot educate a child who is not healthy, and you cannot keep a child healthy who is not educated.”- Dr. Jocelyn Elders
To that end, I look forward to meeting you and your middle schooler, and working with you however I can to help keep him/her healthy, attending school, and ready to learn. If I may be of assistance to you at any time during this school year, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 678-965-5010, extension 381527 or by email at
