6th Grade social studiesis a geography and history class that will cover map skills and the following countries and world regions: Canada, Mexico, Central America, Europe, Australia, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Oceania, and Antarctica. We will incorporate reading and writing skills into many of our activities and projects.
7th Grade social studiescovers geography (longitude, latitude, time zones, map skills, geography terms) government (forms of government and where they are practiced) religion (5 major religions of the world - Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam) and economics (supply and demand, four factors of production, scarcity, opportunity cost, and competition).
8th Grade social studiesis a year-long study of the state of Georgia that
includes an overview of the state’s economy, geography, government and
history. Our goal is to engage students and provide
opportunities for them to take responsibility for their own
learning. The text book is Georgia and the American Experience and
is available online.
