The BeCumming Green Team are 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade students at Cumming Elementary who are committed to making our world a better place to live through environmental service. We meet two Mondays a month for Junior Master Gardener and environmental awareness classes.
We are all working toward our certification as Jr. Master Gardeners and the Forsyth County Master Gardeners facilitate our hands-on bi-monthly programs.
We also handle our school's recycling effort, which consists of
**Bi-weekly pickup of paper from our classrooms
**Upcycling chip bags, juice pouches, used pens, markers and glue sticks for the TerraCycle effort
**Participants in the Pepsi Dream Machine Recycle Rally, where we earn points for every non-alcoholic aluminum and plastic beverage container we recycle
**BoxTops and Campbell Soup labels collection
**Maintaining our outdoor classroom and Certified Wildlife Habitat, Sensory Garden and Sustainable Gardens! If you are interested in helping, we sponsor occasional Saturday "Dig in the Dirt" days at 9:00 am. We have 32 raised beds for our sustainable gardens, 2 raised beds, bird houses and feeder features in our butterfly garden, and a sensory garden that need constant upkeep.
