Special Area Teachers
Rachel Groover

I couldn’t be more excited to be a returning Wildcat, just in a different fashion. As a native of Forsyth County, I attended Big Creek Elementary as a student from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade and continued through the Forsyth County School System. I graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in 3D Studio and received my teaching certificate from University of North Georgia. On the weekends I love spending time with my husband and our dog Beaux, making my own art and cheering on my Georgia Southern Eagles!

Adam Duncan
My name is Adam Duncan, but most people just call me “Coach.” I was born in Atlanta, and have lived in Forsyth county since 1998. I am married to another incredible Forsyth county teacher, Kayla, who is at Piney Grove Middle. This is my 6th year at Big Creek and I could be more excited!

Erika McGowan

My name is Erika McGowan. This is my 16th year at Big Creek. I live with my husband and two kids that are at Lakeside Middle and Haw Creek respectively. I was extremely active with every sport I could play growing up and continue to stay active. I play tennis in local leagues,  run on my own as well as local 5k's, and now avidly follow my kids sporting activities.  I love seeing our students SWEAT and learn to love physical activity while discovering the benefits that go along with it.

Jill Hackney

Hi there! I am the music teacher at Big Creek elementary. I have the best job in the building because I get to make music with children all day long. I hold three music degrees from around the country; B.M. in piano performance from Cal State Fullerton, B.S. in music education from UNG (formerly NGCSU) and a M.M. from Boston University (on line).

I have been married 29 years to my best friend, Mike Hackney. We have three wonderful, fun, funny boys; Justin (24), Mikey (22), and Frederic (18). All of them are in college and holding down jobs. We moved here from California in 1995 and have been in Forsyth county ever since. I enjoyed the school system so much that I wanted to become a part of it. I went back to school when Frederic started Kindergarten, finished my education degree and started teaching 10 years ago at Matt Elementary. I have been at Big Creek for 7 years and enjoy every day watching our students grow in creativity and musicality.
