A+ Improvement Model (A.I.M)

grad

Philosophy:

The A.I.M. continuous improvement model is designed to assist schools in developing, implementing, and monitoring a comprehensive plan for school improvement.  The core of this model is to focus on analysis of performance data, development of measurable goals, and collaborative planning to make results-driven decisions and strengthen the instructional and organizational effectiveness of schools.

Forsyth County’s A.I.M. has incorporated the five-step planning process in the National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) School Improvement:  Focusing on Student Performance as well as the work of Mike Schmoker, Douglas Reeves, Victoria Bernhardt, and Rick Dufour.  The A.I.M. process also utilizes the Georgia School Standards, as well as other resources developed by the Georgia Department of Education, as a tool for defining data collection and high leverage actions.  The combination of these resources, as well as the system’s focus on providing all students with quality work, has created a powerful planning process that will guide our schools towards meeting or exceeding our goals.

School improvement in the past has often focused on improving the results of the school, based on improving test scores.  While that certainly needs to be the result of planning, A.I.M. focuses on the means to the desired results equally.  If schools do not focus on adult learning/collaboration, improving the current processes of learning, and on incorporating research-based learning initiatives, we will not achieve our desired results.

A school’s capacity to engage the talents of those who work in the school and support the school to strengthen the organization will benefit students as measured by improvements in their achievement.
