PGMS Media Center

Video Policies

At Piney Grove Middle School, we require that any video shown in the classroom be related to the Georgia Performance Standards and meet guidelines for acceptable use.
If a teacher wishes to show a video in the classroom, he/she must complete the PGMS  Video Permission Form 7-10 before the planned showing of the video.  The form gives information about the video, and asks specific questions about the standards being addressed by showing the video and how it will be incorporated into instruction.
Once the PGMS Video Permission Form is completed, it should be submitted to the Media Specialist or Paraprofessional to ensure that we have purchased the right to show the video in the classroom (this must be done every year, as our agreement with the studios changes each year - one that participated last year might not participate the next).  This takes a few minutes, then the Media Specialist or Paraprofessional will log the information and forward it to Ms. North for approval.
The Forsyth County Board of Education provides two video streaming services designed to help teachers locate standards-based video content - United Streaming and Safari Montage.  Permission forms are not necessary to show content from United Streaming or Safari Montage, but care should be taken to preview any and all videos prior to showing to students.
