Student Registration Welcome to Forsyth County Schools! We are glad that you are joining our growing family. For your convenience, registration is available at the Hill Educational Center, located at 136 Elm Street, Cumming, GA 30040 (CLICK: Map and Directions). Please contact the Registration and Records office at (678) 947-0863, ext. 0 to schedule an appointment to register (calls will be returned within 24 business hours).
The Registration Center hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Register early, walk-ins are taken between or after appointments.
Walk-ins will be accepted based on availability two weeks prior to the first day of school or the day after a school holiday/break. Due to high volume, expect an extended wait time during these time periods.
Summer Hours June 3rd thru July 12th Monday-Thursday 7:00am-12:00pm and 1:30pm-6:00pm (Closed 12:00-1:30 Daily) Closed July 4th and 5th, 2013 Entering kindergarten and first grade: According to Georgia law, children must be five years old by September 1 in order to enroll in kindergarten and six years old by September 1 to enroll in first grade. The only exceptions are students who were legal residents in another state for a period of two years immediately prior to moving to Georgia and: 1.) are age five by December 31 and who attended an accredited kindergarten in another state or regional association or the equivalent thereof, may enroll in public kindergarten, or 2.) Students who are six by December 31 and who attended an accredited school in another state or regional association or the equivalent thereof, may enroll in first grade. Temporary grade placement will be assigned by proof of age (grades KK or 01) or grade appropriate age. An official request signed by the parent or guardian for prior records will be sent to prior school (grades 01-12) for verification of grade placement by the local school. Registration Requirements:
Who may register the student? The biological, foster or adoptive parent should enroll the student. If the student is not living with the biological, foster or adoptive parent, a temporary guardianship form must be obtained from the Probate Court located at 112 West Maple St, Cumming, GA 30040 (770-781-2140) or the guardian must have a court order to allow the student to register. A photo ID will be required for parents and guardians.
Residency: To enroll in Forsyth County Schools, the student’s parents or legal guardian and the student must be a full time resident of Forsyth County. Forsyth County Schools must have ALL REQUIRED information upon registration for students to be enrolled and to receive a schedule for the upcoming year. 1. Proof of Residency If you own your residence please provide the following two documents.
A current (within 60 days) utility (gas, electric, water, residential telephone, and cable are acceptable utilities), and A deed, property tax statement, mortgage statement, or settlement statement.
If you lease or rent your residence please provide the following two documents. A current (within 60 days) utility (gas, electric, water, residential telephone, and cable/satellite are acceptable utilities), and A current lease/rental agreement signed by the owner of the residence.
If you have a purchase/sales contract for a house that you have not moved into yet AND the closing date/lease will begin within 90 days of the student's entrance into school parents may complete an Out of District Request to enroll their student in Forsyth County Schools. Parents of out-of-district students must provide their own transportation. Proof of residency (settlement statement, warranty deed, mortgage coupon, and current utility tied to the dwelling) must be provided within 90 days of student's admittance to school.

(Purchase/Sales Contracts for new homes) If you are unable to provide both proofs of residency in your name please complete a Forsyth County Schools Affidavit of Residency. (Notaries are available at the Registration Center). The following two documents must be provided in addition to the Affidavit of Residency. A current (within 60 days) utility (gas, electric, water, residential telephone, and cable/satellite are acceptable utilities), and A deed, property tax statement, mortgage statement, or settlement statement of the owner of the residence or Lease/Rental Agreement of the lessee of the residence (must be signed by the owner of the residence).
2. Copy of Birth Certificate (proof of age) A certified copy of the Birth certificate (may be requested from the Georgia Department of Human Resources Vital Records at 404-679-4701 or Forsyth County Probate Court at 770-781-2140. Birth certificates for children born in other states may be obtained by contacting the Vital Records Department within the state) OR Hospital issued Birth Certificate OR Hospital issued Birth Record OR Military ID (student) OR Valid drivers license (student) OR Passport OR Adoption Record OR Religious Record signed by an Authorized Religious official OR Official High School Transcript and Custody or guardianship papers if applicable. 4. Certificate of Ear, Eye, and Dental Examination A current and complete (hearing, vision and dental exam) Georgia Department of Human Resources Form 3300 is required by state law. This form is available from the Forsyth County Health Department located at 428 Canton Hwy, Cumming, GA 30040 (770-781-6900) or a Georgia physician. 5. Social Security Card or Waiver Form - waiver is provided by the Registration Center. 6. Please provide judge signed and court documented custody papers if parents are separated or divorced. When a child is living with both parents at two locations due to separation or divorce, the full time residence will be considered where the child spends a majority of the school week (Forsyth County Board of Education Policy JBCAA). 7.
