CONGRATULATIONS SHARON ELEMENTARY!
Each year, our governor presents the Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) awards to schools that show excellence in student achievement and/or progress in student achievement. Award-winning schools must meet specific criteria, based on the results of the most recent years of Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) (grades 1-8 in Reading, English/Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science) and/or the Georgia High School Graduation Test (GHSGT) (grade 11 first time test takers - English/language arts, math, science, and social studies). Criteria are based on Full Academic Year (FAY) students.
Sharon Elementary School been recognized as a winner in the 2011 Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) awards. We have received the PLATINUM AWARD for outstanding student achievement. This is the highest award that a school can earn.
Sharon Elementary School is one of only 29 elementary schools (out of over 1,257) in the state of Georgia to receive the PLATINUM award for the 2010-2011 school year for the category “Highest Percentage of Students Meeting or Exceeding Standards”. Even more impressive is the fact that we are one of only FOUR elementary schools in the state that have earned this title for FOUR consecutive years (and two of those schools are magnet schools)! It takes a collaborative effort of teachers and parents working with students to earn this level of success and you are to be applauded for your hard work and accomplishment! We look forward to adding our newest award to our main hallway!
