Mrs. Helen Kumpel

I am excited to be the Instructional Coach this year! I graduated from Georgia State University in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and ESOL endorsement. After spending a year teaching 5th grade at Daves Creek Elementary, I joined the Haw Creek family as a 5th-grade teacher in 2014 and have proudly been a Husky ever since! I was named Teacher of the Year in 2016, which I know would not have been possible without wonderful mentors and teachers supporting me, coaching me, and sharing their love of teaching with me in the early years of my career. I continued my passion for learning in 2017 and obtained my gifted endorsement. I served as the Gifted Coordinator from 2019-2024.  I recently completed my Teacher Support and Coaching endorsement and I am eager to start supporting our teachers and students in the classroom.

I moved to Georgia with my husband in 2007. Our oldest son recently graduated from the Alliance Academy of Innovation and was accepted into the Dawson County EMS Academy, where he will pursue his passion for becoming a firefighter and paramedic. Our youngest son plays ice hockey for the Fire Elite 16U National Team and will travel all over the country this year! My husband and I are excited to support them as they continue to set goals and pursue their dreams.
