Polly Tennies, K-5 Principal
Dr. Tennies has 34 years of experience in public education. This is her 10th year as Chestatee's Principal. She graduated from Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA with a B.A. in Elementary/ Early Childhood Education. She went on to purse her M.S. as a Reading Specialist at Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. She received her Leadership Certification from the University of Georgia and completed her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Tennies has taught elementary school, been a literacy coach, an assistant principal and an adjunct professor. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and a past Forsyth County Teacher of the Year (2005). Her heart is at Chestatee, as her own sons attended school here. Being a military spouse gave Polly opportunities to travel and learn in schools in many different locations. As the mother of an Air Force ROTC son and a Navy officer she appreciates hard work and commitment to duty. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Mr. Rob Dugan serves as Assistant Principal for grades K-2. He has 20 years of experience in education as an assistant administrator, professional learning leader, graduation coach, and teacher. He attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for his bachelor’s degree and VanderCook College of Music for his master’s degree, both in Music Education. He also graduated from Kennesaw State University with an Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology and Tier II Leadership Certification.
Mr. Dugan is a Staff Sergeant in the Tennessee 129th Army National Guard Band. He and his wife Michele have two boys, Landon and Parker, who attend Forsyth County Schools. Mr. Dugan enjoys reading, playing guitar, and going on vacations with his family He is very excited to join the Chestatee family and can’t wait for a great year at the “T”!

Mrs. Gaines is entering her 10th year at Chestatee Elementary and 15th year as an educator. She has taught and led teachers in grades K-5 in her years as a classroom teacher, gifted educator, Title 1 Support teacher, Instructional Coach, and Quality Work Facilitator. She graduated from North Georgia College and State University with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education in addition to a reading endorsement. She then went on to gain her Gifted Endorsement, Teacher Leader Endorsement and a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Most recently, she completed her Leadership Certification at Kennesaw State University. She is excited to continue her journey at Chestatee Elementary supporting students, families, and staff as the Assistant Principal for grades 3, 4, and 5. After school, Abby enjoys reading, cooking, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Michael, and their two boys, Canyon and Maddux.
722430 Angela Perry, Quality Work Facilitator This will be Angela Perry's 15th year in education and 3rd year at Chestatee! Dr. Perry started teaching in Cobb County and has taught 3rd and 5th grades with ESOL, EIP, and students with special needs. She has degrees from Kennesaw State and Walden University. Dr. Perry is so excited to be the Quality Work Facilitator this year at Chestatee! 722409
