PBIS at PGMS 

In our 15th year in operation, Piney Grove Middle School is now a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school. PBIS is an evidence-based framework that helps create an effective learning environment by making data-driven decisions that impact school culture and behavioral supports.

Some of the things we have implemented so far include:

• Positively stated behavior expectations for the whole school (communicated through the acronym GRIT)
• A behavior intervention plan for responding to behavior errors
• A schoolwide acknowledgement system to recognize and reinforce positive behaviors (GRIT Coin)
• GRIT Students and Staff Member of the Week
