Welcome to Our English Language Learners (ESOL) Department

Vickery Creek provides support for English Language Learners in grades K-5. The English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program provides instruction to develop students' proficiency in English in the four areas of language: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Students receive support with pull-out and/or push-in delivery models. A pull-out delivery model provides students support out of a general education class for the purpose of receiving small group instruction from the ESOL teacher. A push-in delivery model provides students support within their core academic class or reading, language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies for the purpose of receiving content instruction from the content teacher and language instruction from the ESOL teacher.

Melanie Wilson - ESOL

Hello! My name is Melanie Wilson. This will be my 20th year teaching in FCS and my 10th year here at Vickery Creek Elementary. I am originally from PA and I’m a Penn State graduate. I am completely obsessed with football (Steelers and PSU). I also enjoy travelling, collecting sneakers, reading, and all things comic book related. I have no children, just a spoiled cat Flair and husband Jeff. I love seeing my students grow and learn as they become proficient in English. We’re going to have a great year!
