Services Provided by the School Nurse

Ideally, the School Nurse's goal is to help make the student who visits the clinic more comfortable so that they can return to class. Healthy children are successful learners.  School nurses also:

      • Supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of students
      • Serves as liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers
      • Promotes a healthy school environment
      • Provides screenings and referrals for health conditions

    Important General Information

The clinic does not stock medication.  All medications (over-the-counter and prescriptions) for students must be brought in by a parent or guardian in its original container along with a completed Request to Administer Medication form.  The forms can be downloaded from the Health Form link to the left of this page. Prescription medication must have a doctor's signature on the form.

Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication before returning to school.  Students must also be vomiting and diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school.

In the event the Clinic needs to reach you during the school day, please make sure that all contact phone numbers are updated in Parent Portal (under Demographics).  Consider adding the school's telephone number to your phone's Contact List so that "North Forsyth Middle School" will show up on your caller ID.

Please inform your school nurse of any chronic medical condition that could affect your child while at school.  There are care plans for specific conditions located on this page and in the "Health Forms" section to the left of this page.  Any others can be addressed by email or in person.

Please parents, encourage your student to

    • eat nutritious foods
    • exercise daily
    • get a good night's sleep
    • practice GOOD hand washing

These simple things will help to ensure your student has an optimal learning experience.

Always feel free to call the clinic with any questions or concerns you may have.

    Thank you,

    Nurse Stephanie
