Academic OrganizationsThe SFHS Academic Organizations provide additional outlets for students who enjoy particular academic disciplines, frequently offering opportunities for competition or collaboration with students from other schools throughout Forsyth County, the state of Georgia, and the country. Please note that we are updating sponsors and meeting times during the first few weeks of school.

In the Fall, Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 3:45 - 4:30. Match days are Mondays around the county for 6-7 weeks.
Chemistry Olympiad

The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) program is a multi-tiered chemistry competition for high school students. ACS has sponsored the program since 1984. Students will meet once a month to learn/review chemistry content and then compete in the national exam in the spring.

Debate club

Speech and Debate is a club for everyone. Beyond the improvements in their academic performance that prepare them to excel in college, speech and debate students change in ways that influence every aspect of their lives. It gives them the social and academic confidence they need to grow as individuals, achieve educational goals, pursue meaningful work, and improve the lives of others – and our world.
Economics Club

Economics Club is an activity partnered with Youth Economics Initiatice, a national 501(c)3 organization, intended for students interested in economic education and competition. Education workshops, interactive games, and competition workshops will be hosted to ensure members are gaining the economic knowledge necessary for their competition and their future.

Geography Club

Encourage students to learn geography and spark an interest in exploring the world beyond what we see in the mass media. Also, to compete in the international academic competition.
German Club

We are a student-led organization that promotes interest in the German language and fosters understanding of German-speaking cultures. German Club is open to any student enrolled at South Forsyth High School. Our aim is to provide students with fun, authentic experiences with German culture. Whether you are enrolled in South Forsyth’s award-winning German program or just someone who wants to experience German culture right here in Forsyth County, our German Club is the place for you.

Math Team

The SFHS Math Team strives for its members to learn competitive mathematics topics in addition to developing competition strategies that will ensure success. SFHS Math Team members compete both as a team and as individuals. The Math Team welcomes all who wish to participate. No tryouts needed.
Tuesday and Thursday in room 467 after school until 4:30
First meeting is on Tue 8/13; Regular meetings start the following week on 8/20
Mock Trial
Brian Fahey
Coached by volunteer attorneys and teachers, teams of 12 students work together to prepare their presentations from case materials provided by the High School Mock Trial Committee. We will also have additional students who serve as understudies should our competing members not be able to compete for some reason.
Model United Nations

Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.

The Optimist Club Oratorical Contest "is designed for youth to gain experience in public speaking, perfect self-expression, gain self-assurance, improve communication skills, and provide them with the opportunity to compete for a college scholarship" (Optimist International).
