Hello! Welcome to the Piney Grove Band webpage.  This is my third year at Piney Grove and I am very excited to teach your children.  Piney Grove is a great school with great students and parents; I am looking forward to wonderful things in the future. 

 

I make sure students are well grounded in the fundamentals of music reading, tone production, rhythm recognition and ensemble playing.  Sometimes things will go slower than students want; however, in band we are all dependent on each other for a fine performance. My philosophy has always been "If band is not fun, something is wrong."

 

Students need to practice a minimum of 20 minutes a day for 3-4 days a week.  More practice will of course be better, less practice and the student will not improve.  For the best results for your child, consider private instruction.  In band class I do not have the luxury of spending enough individual time with every child.  A 1/2 hour lesson once a week can fix problems that may be undetected in class.  If you are interested, please email me for a list of proven instructors in the area.
