Oratorical ContestSarah K., an eighth grade student here at PGMS, was selected to compete in the Finals for the Optimist Club’s Oratorical Contest. The contest, which was held on March 3, 2011, was comprised of both middle school and high school student speakers. It was certainly a fierce competition and Sarah gave a strong speech on the topic: “If I were leader of the free world, the first issue I’d address would be…”. As for the results, Sarah was selected and placed as an alternate for the two high school girls that advanced on to the regional contest. We are very proud of Sarah and her impressive public speaking talent!Forsyth County Oratorical Contest Semi-FinalsThis speech contest was held Wednesday, February 23rd and Sarah K. will now compete in the Oratorical Finals on Thursday, March 3rd. Good luck, Sarah! We would also like to applaud 7th grade student, Matthew C. for his performance at the Semi-Finals. This annual contest is sponsored by the Optimist Club. Students spoke on the topic: “If I were leader of the free world, the first issue I would address would be…”.The Piney Grove Oratorical Contest was held on Thursday, February 10th.Winners: Sarah K. and Matthew C. Both of these winners won last year. Sarah K. has was this contest every year since 5th grade!
