High School Graduation Requirements
Graduation requirements for Forsyth County high schools include attendance, required units of credit, and passing state required graduation tests.
Middle School Credit
- Unit credit may be awarded for courses offered in the middle grades that meet the 9-12 GPS requirements.
- A student is classified as a high school student after the official entry date for the ninth grade.
- Credits for each successfully completed high school course will receive a numeric average on the high school transcript.
- Units of credit awarded in middle school are not included in the high school grade point average (GPA) and will not receive quality points.
High School Diploma
Students must meet diploma requirements in three areas:- Assessments
All students must take the Georgia Milestones End of Course (EOC) assessments in American Literature, Algebra I, United States History, and Biology. These students must pass the course to meet graduation requirements. - Courses
Students must complete and pass specific EOC course requirements as outlined by the graduation rule. - Credits
Students must earn 23 units as a minimum state requirement for graduation. Additional requirements may be established by the local district.

Graduation ExerciseAll students must meet all requirements for the high school diploma, the certificate of attendance, or the transition diploma before participating in graduation exercises.
