Mrs. Denise Abreu
I am excited to begin my 36th year in education teaching Fifth Grade Math and Science. I began my teaching career in Florida and Gwinnett County where I taught Kindergarten, First and Third grades for 11 years. I then spent 16 years working part-time in the preschool world while raising three amazing boys who are all Sharon graduates. In 2017 I returned to the classroom full-time teaching 6th grade math, 5th grade math and science and 3rd grade ESOL math. I love math and have served on the FCS Math Assessment Revision team, Curriculum Selection team and Resource Revision and Development team.
My husband and I met at the University of Florida where I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education with certifications in Middle Grades content, Reading and Special Education. I am a lifelong learner and am always searching for ways to improve my teaching practices.
On a personal note, I have been married to Boris for 31 years. We have three incredible boys. Boris A. lives and works in Washington, DC, Shane graduated from UNG this summer with a degree in Criminal Justice/Forensics and Jack is a junior AFROTC Cadet at UGA studying International Affairs. When I am not at school you can usually find me reading, walking, or spending time with my family.
I can’t wait to meet you and to welcome your child to the Fifth Grade Family. I look forward to an amazing year of learning together.

Mrs. Tricia Ashcraft
Hi! My name is Tricia Ashcraft, and I’m thrilled to be teaching 5th grade Science and Math at Sharon. I’ve taught in Forsyth County for ten years, seven at Sharon and three at Brandywine. The majority of my experience is in Florida where I taught for twenty-five years at seven different schools. I’ve taught first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, and also served as an assistant principal. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational leadership. As you can see, I love variety and change.
My family is very important to me. My husband and I met in college at Troy State University in Alabama. We have been married for 35 years and have a daughter, Taylor. She graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Caroline and is now working and living on her own in Roswell. As a family, we love spending time together hiking, camping, and kayaking. The outdoors is my happy place.
I am passionate about teaching and building relationships with my students and their families. I’m looking forward to another GREAT year at Sharon!

Mrs. Catherine Evans
My name is Catherine Evans and this is my 4th year at Sharon Elementary and I will be teaching 5th graders math and science. I have been a teacher for 17 years in Gwinnett County. Throughout those 16 years, I had the opportunity to teach across all elementary grade levels.
As a commitment to being a life-long learner, after completing my bachelors from Georgia Southern University in Elementary Education, I continued my education and earned a Masters from Walden and Specialist Degree from Piedmont College. I am also Gifted endorsed in order to help students of all ability levels reach their highest potential.
I live in Cumming with my husband John and my six-year-old daughter Kinsley. She is going into first grade this year. If we aren’t playing at the lake or in the pool, you will find us somewhere outside playing games and yelling “Go Dawgs”.
I am committed to helping my students grow, and I look forward to a great school year full of learning, new adventures, and discoveries.

We moved to Georgia ten years ago. Prior to that, I’ve lived in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, and Canada. Moving closer to my family is what brought us to Georgia to start a new adventure! My husband Adam and I have two young girls, Emma (age 11) and Nora (age 8). We also welcomed a new puppy to the family this summer, our precious Sophie. Our girls are the pride and joy in our lives. We love to watch them grow and help cultivate their own love of learning. My parents and my sister live in Georgia too, so we enjoy living close to family. My sister is Miss Sarnacki, 5th Grade ELA Teacher here at Sharon Elementary! So excited to share another year on this educational journey with her! Teaching with my sister is really a dream come true!
I love spending time with my family, working out to stay healthy, baking, reading a good book, and taking pictures to capture the memories of our daughters’ lives. I’m also a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan, so you’ll see evidence in my classroom! Looking forward to another great year at Sharon Elementary-Go Knights!!

I graduated from the Ohio State University in 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development & Family Science, and I graduated again from Ohio State in 2008 with my Master's Degree in Middle Childhood Education. I have an Associate Level certification through the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners, gifted certification, and an online teaching endorsement. My family is so important and special to me! My sister is married to my awesome brother-in-law and they have two little girls that I am so lucky to call my nieces! I love spending time with Emma (11) & Nora (8)! My family moved around a few times when I was growing up. I was born in Michigan, then lived outside of Toronto, Ontario for six years. Next, we moved to a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Lastly, I lived in Columbus, Ohio for ten years until I moved to Georgia in the fall of 2013 to be closer to my parents! My sister just so happens to be Mrs. Kleinhenz, another fifth-grade teacher here at Sharon Elementary! I couldn't ask for anything better! We are best friends and love getting to work together!
Another very special part of my life is my sweet dog Belle. She is a 15 year old Maltipoo and my very best friend :). She loves to play fetch with small tennis balls and have her belly rubbed, and she has her mom wrapped around her paw! In my free time I love to cheer on the Atlanta Braves and the Ohio State Buckeyes (Go Bucks and Go Braves!), read a good book, listen to all kinds of music, do jigsaw puzzles, bake something yummy, spend time with my family (especially Emma & Nora!), learn new technology tricks, volunteer at my church, and play with Belle!
I am looking forward to a school year filled with fun, laughter, and lots of learning!

Mrs. Laura Teague
I am so excited to join the fifth grade team this year! This will be my fourth year at Sharon, having taught fourth grade for the past three years. Before my time at Sharon, I spent several years working in elementary education in Alabama. I’m a native Georgian and got my Bachelor's of Science in Education at the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). I also completed my Master’s in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University. I am passionate about creating a classroom environment where all learners feel welcomed, valued, challenged, and supported. I love pouring into the students in the Sharon community!
Outside of school, I am mom to two young boys and one very lazy Golden Retriever. They keep me on my toes and bring me so much joy! My husband and I are actively involved in the local community, and we enjoy spending our time serving elementary students at our church. We spend most of our family time on the baseball and soccer fields, exploring outside, or playing basketball in the driveway. In my free time I love to walk, read, travel, shop, do puzzles, and bake!
