Cara Applewhite is so excited to be joining the fourth grade team. This will be her 10th year of teaching but her first year teaching in Georgia. She previously taught fourth grade for four years and elementary music for five years in Texas. She and her husband, Stephen, moved to Georgia in June of 2018 and welcomed their first child, a daughter named Finley, in September of 2018. They are enjoying getting to know their new home state. Mrs. Deborah Clark is thrilled to be a member of the Chestatee Family! She loves to teach 4th grade Math and Science at "The T". She is a graduate of Brenau University with 18 years of experience in education and just completed her Math Endorsement. Deborah has worked across grade levels K-5, including Physical Education and Early Intervention. Her philosophy is, all children can realize their potential and exceed expectations if everyone works together and supports one another. To make it possible for our children to achieve academic success, both teachers and parents must be committed. She is excited to teach Math and Science to another amazing group of 4th Graders!
Sarah Cockerham has 13 years of experience teaching in Forsyth County Schools. 3 years at Mashburn Elementary, teaching 4th grade, 7 years at Brookwood Elementary teaching 4th grade and Special Education (grades 2-5). This is her fourth year at the "T" teaching 4th grade ELA and Social Studies. She holds an undergrad dual degree obtained in Early Childhood Education and Special Education as well as a reading endorsement from North Georgia College. She also graduated from Mercer University with a Master's in Education and an ESOL endorsement. She loves being a parent and teacher at Chestatee!
This will be Sarah Hammond's 2nd year at Chestatee Elementary and her 16th year as an educator. Mrs. Hammond attended North Forsyth High School-Go Raiders! She graduated from North Georgia College and State University with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education, as well as a reading endorsement. She has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, and has worked as an interrelated teacher. She lives here in Cumming with her husband, three kids, and her dog named Magnolia. She is so excited to be teaching fourth grade and is looking forward to a great year!
This will be Ms. Monkus’ first year at Chestatee Elementary and her first year as an educator. Ms. Monkus graduated from Kennesaw State University with a degree in Elementary Education, in addition to a reading and ESOL endorsement. She loves working with the youth at her church, cheering on the DAWGS, and spending time with family, friends and her cows. Ms. Monkus will be getting married to her fiancé, Seth Stowers, over fall break. She is very excited to teach Math and Science to a group of amazing 4th graders! She knows this year is going to be an exciting year filled with lots of learning and fun!
This will be Mrs. McGregor's third year at Chestatee Elementary and fourth year as an educator. Mrs.McGregor graduated from the University of North Georgia with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. She also received her Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, Mrs. McGregor holds reading and gifted education endorsements. She is very excited to teach ELA and Social Studies to fourth graders this year!
Megan Orr is so excited to be joining the 4th grade team. She has taught for 6 years in kindergarten and third grade. She and her husband, Bradley, have two boys named Colton and Bryson. Colton will be in first grade at Chestatee. They love to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs and spend time with friends! Her gift to teaching is her passion to connect with students. She can’t wait for next year!
Ashton Vulcano graduated from University of North Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education with a reading endorsement. This is her fifth year at Chestatee. She has experience as a Title 1 teacher for Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade teaching both reading and math. She is super excited to be teaching 4th grade math and science again this year!
