Mr. Houston

Mr. Houston is delighted to be continuing his teaching career here at Brookwood. This is his 3rd year teaching after graduating with his dual bachelor's in Early Elementary and Special Education from the University of North Georgia. Mr. Houston has been a 1st grade teacher for the last two years and will now be the new IRR teacher for K ,1st, and 2nd grade. He strongly believes in building connections and flourishing learning among his students. Mr. Houston is a Georgia native and loves the outdoors. He is so excited to work in special education and help them grow and most importantly have fun! His motto is to stay positive, work hard, and make it happen. He knows this will be an awesome year! Ms. Schimmel

Ms. Schimmel graduated from Oneonta State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She also received her Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from GA State University. Ms. Schimmel has been a certified Special Education teacher for 14 years and has taught a variety of specialized classrooms. Prior to teaching special education, Ms. Schimmel was a general education teacher for 8 years with a focus on students with a variety of needs. Ms. Schimmel is excited to begin her 22nd year of teaching as a Bobcat! This will be Ms. Schimmel's 4th year at Brookwood.

Mrs. Strang

Hello, Brookwood Family! My name is Samantha Strang, and this is my 14th year teaching, where 12 of those years I was a general education teacher. This will be my 2nd year as an IRR teacher. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. grades. I am originally from Tampa, FL, where I graduated from the University of South Florida. I am currently pursuing my masters in Special Education. I have lived and taught in Georgia for 11 years, and I love spending time outdoors with my family, reading, and gardening. I am PAWsitively excited to spend the year learning and growing with you!

Hi! I am excited about starting my 8th year as a Brookwood Bobcat and my 22nd year teaching! I hold a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern University, a Master's degree from Graceland University, and my Specialist from Piedmont University, Outside the classroom, some of my interests are playing tennis, reading, and enjoying live music. I look forward to another year of supporting all students and working to meet their needs. Together we can achieve greatness!

Hi Bobcats! I am entering into my fourth year in Forsyth County Schools. I am so excited to be joining the Brookwood speech team this year. I graduated from University of Tennessee – Knoxville, go vols! I completed my graduate schooling at Valdosta State University. When I am not serving students, I am either planning my next adventure with my fiancé, cooking or watching the Bravo channel.

Ms. Mandy Buffington

I have been a Speech Language Pathologist for 20 years. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Disorders in 2002. I graduated in 2005 with my Master’s degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I moved to Georgia in 2005 to start my career in Speech Language Pathology. I provided therapeutic services in the Fulton and Clayton County School Districts. I also worked in pediatric private practice and in home health settings serving children in the birth-22 years old population. I have my Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC)from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). I have experience in childhood dysphagia, articulation disorders, language disorders, and childhood apraxia of speech. I have experience with using various Augmentative and Alternative Communication Device in therapeutic settings. I reside in Alpharetta with her husband and two school aged daughters. I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, reading, exercising, and playing softball in my free time. I am excited to continue to be a part of the Speech Therapy team at Brookwood ES.

Mrs. Plauche

Mrs. Plauche has been an SLP for 27 years. She earned her undergraduate degree in Communication Disorders from LSU and her masters in Speech Language Pathology from USM. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and has worked in both medical and school-based settings. She is celebrating her eighth year with Forsyth County and her 10th year at Brookwood. She strives to increase speech and language skills in engaging ways and is so excited for another amazing year!

Mrs. Andrea Colin

I am excited to be starting my 9th year as an educator and my second year as a Skilled Based Autism teacher. I am married with five children that have been students at Brookwood Elementary. I love teaching and serving the community where my children go to school. In my spare time I enjoy watching my children play sports, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Mrs. Gadre

My name is Meenal Gadre. I am thrilled to introduce myself as a new teacher at Brookwood Elementary school. I hold a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Education, along with multiple certifications in special education. Over the past 25 years, I have had the pleasure of teaching Economics at the college level, serving as a Hospital Homebound teacher of middle school and high school students, working with the Babies Can’t Wait program to provide specialized services for infants and toddlers with special needs, and teaching Special Education at Daves Creek Elementary School. My passion for education began in my early years as a student and has grown throughout my professional journey cherishing the classroom environment and the joy of learning. I love to be able to learn new things daily and to facilitate student learning in the classroom. I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love and am looking forward to a year filled with fun, learning, and memorable experiences at Brookwood.

Mrs. Mudulodu

Mrs. Mudulodu graduated from University of Tennessee with Masters of Occupational Therapy. She has been working with kids of all ABILITIES for over 10 years. She started her career working in out-patient clinics. This is her 6th year working in school systems and her 2nd year at Brookwood. She is so excited to be working at this awesome school!

Mr. Archer

My name is John Archer, I have an Associate's degree in Accounting and I've been working as a substitute teacher in the county for two years now. I'm extremely excited to join Brookwood as a paraprofessional this year. In my free time I like to design tabletop games and write speculative fiction - I recently wrote a choose-your-own-adventure novel for my daughter Guinevere's 16th birthday.

Ms. Gandotra

My name is Jaya Gandotra, and this will be my 10th year of teaching. I graduated from the University of Delhi in Delhi, India, with a Bachelor in Arts. I have also received a certificate in Early Childhood Education from Lanier Technical College. I taught Georgia Pre-K as an Assistant Teacher for 7 years, and I worked as an SBA Paraprofessional at Daves Creek for one year. This will be my second year as an SBA Para. I have been working with kids for 29 years and have a degree in Early Childhood Development. This is my 8th year at Brookwood in the SBA class. Mrs. McCavitt

Mrs. McCavitt is entering her 24th year of teaching. She graduated from Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in Education and is certified to teach the alternate curriculum in Georgia. She has taught 5th grade general education, K-5 in the Mild Intellectual Disability classroom, and is starting her 7th year at Brookwood. Mrs. McCavitt is thrilled to teach in a classroom where she can begin to teach at the level where each child is. She loves teaching and exploring replacement behaviors and finding ways for all of her students to be the best version of themselves. Her experience at Brookwood has been some of the best years in her teaching career, and she looks forward to having another amazing year with her wonderful, talented, fun, and sweet students!

My name is Beth Veiger. I grew up in Ohio but have lived in Georgia for 23 years. I am married with 5 grown children and 3 grand dogs. I worked as a certified pharmacy technician and training coach for 10 years before working in Forsyth County Schools.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, reading, and taking art classes.
