I am thrilled to be joining the second-grade team at Matt! With 18 years of teaching experience in Florida, spanning from PreK to 5th grade, I bring a wealth of knowledge and passion to this role. Originally hailing from Augusta, GA, I pursued my Bachelor's in Elementary Education at Georgia Southern University before embarking on my teaching journey in Orlando, FL.
During my time in Orlando, I not only found my professional calling but also met my wonderful husband of 10 years. Together, we've built a beautiful family with three beautiful girls aged 9, 6, and 3, accompanied by two dogs and a bunny. The prospect of relocating back to my home state to be closer to my family fills us all with excitement and joy.
Beyond the classroom, I find solace and joy in outdoor activities with my loved ones. Teaching is more than just a profession to me; it's a vocation, a calling that I wholeheartedly embrace. I am eager to embark on this new adventure alongside my students at Matt and make a positive impact on their educational journey. Here's to new beginnings and endless possibilities!

Abigail Mormando
Hello, I’m Mrs. Mormando! I am thrilled to meet and teach my second-graders this year. I hold a bachelor's degree from The University of Georgia and a Master's and Specialist degree from Georgia Southern University. Over the past six years in Savannah, I've taught fourth grade for one year and third grade for five years. With this experience, I feel well-prepared to guide and support my second-graders. In Savannah, I enjoyed raising fourteen chickens, and I’m excited to spend time with the chickens in our school garden. I also fostered dogs from a local rescue, and at one point, I had ten dogs! I look forward to getting involved in the community here. Outside of teaching, I love spending time outdoors with my dogs and my daughter, Freya. I look forward to a wonderful school year with all of you!

Pink is my favorite color, as you will see in my wardrobe and classroom!
