This is my 11th year teaching Special Education here at Matt Elementary, but I have worked in Special Education for over 18 years, first as a Paraprofessional. I graduated from Brenau University in 2014 after going back to finish my degree. I have taught IRR, MOID and Autism here at Matt Elementary. I am happily married to my husband, David, who is a Spanish Teacher at North Forsyth Middle School, and we have 2 adult children who actually both attended Matt Elementary years ago. We love to travel and spend time together as a family. I cannot wait to have another AMAZING year at Matt!

This is my 2nd year as a Matt Mainer, and I am so excited to SAIL through the year. I have taught in Forsyth County for 19 years. 18 of those 19 years have been in specialized education classrooms. I have experience from Pre-k to 12th grade and have loved it all. I grew up in Forsyth County and graduated from North Forsyth High School. I continued my education with my dual degree in Regular Education and also Special Education at North Georgia College and State University. After a year of teaching, I pursued my Master's Degree from Lesley University with Technology in Education. Last summer I completed my Specialist in Instructional Technology at West Georgia University to enhance my classroom with the latest technology mixed with the traditional classroom lessons. I have two daughters who both attend Forsyth County Schools. We love to spend our time outside, playing card games and traveling.

Rachel Truesdale
Hi, my name is Rachel Truesdale. I can’t express how excited I am to start this new year of discovery and adventure together. This will be my 7th year as a Mariner. I began as a K-5 SBA paraprofessional and remained there for 2 years before being given my own classroom. I have a BA of Arts in Elementary Education from Buffalo State College in NY and an Associates in Arts from Niagra County Community College. Discerning where a child is and teaching from their level while surrounding them with love and encouragement is what I love to do. My passion for Special Education is only surpassed by the love for my 2 beautiful daughters, Elora & Zoey.
