      Angie Herman

My name is Angie Herman, and I am so excited to be teaching EIP at Brandywine this year!  I know we are going to have tons of fun, and learn a lot! I live in Suwanee with my husband Mike, our daughter Lily Claire, and our dog Charlie.  I have been teaching for 20 years, with most of my experience being in kindergarten and first grade. I taught kindergarten for 14 years in Barrow County, and looped up with my class one year to teach 1st grade.  My favorite thing to do, besides teaching, is to cheer on the Georgia Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium!  I'm looking forward to a great year with you at Brandywine.

I am so excited to be teaching EIP grade at Brandywine.  I graduated from the University of Georgia (GOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!) in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development.  I then graduated in May 2005 from Georgia State University, where I received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education.  Finally, I went back to GSU in 2009, where I earned my Specialist Degree. This is my 14th year teaching.  My husband Brandon and I live in Cumming with our three sweet puppies…Iggy, Stevie, and Peaches and our kitty, Sookie.  We really love animals!  I feel that teaching is like parenting because I have the privilege of sharing your child for 180 days, and I get to know and love each of them.  They become a part of me, and I would do anything to see them succeed!

The Forsyth County School System and the staff of Brandywine Elementary School believes that educators should have high expectations for all children, and that it is our responsibility to help children achieve the academic goals needed to perform at or above grade level in all subject areas.  Children come to school at different stages of development and do not all learn at the same rate or with the same method of teaching.  Because of their differences, most children learn best when they are in small groups and have access to materials and activities which are adjusted to their pace and style of learning. Children qualify for services based on multiple academic evaluations. If a child qualifies for EIP services a certified teacher works in collaboration with the regular classroom teacher to provide small group instruction based on the needs of each student, thus reducing the student/teacher ratio and ensuring more support for every child in the classroom.
