• Frequently Asked Questions:

    1. What activities are offered?

In 2018-19, we have several after school activities and competition teams. Every activity has its own webpage and the list is under the student activities tab.

Competititon teams: Vex, Science Olympiad, and Math Teams.

For more details, please go to their webpage and contact the teacher sponsor if you have more questions.

     2. What is the difference between the competition team and after achool activity?

The Competition Teams have try-outs and applications. Some are completed in the spring prior to the start of the school year and others are due in August.  Students are invited to join the team and compete at various competitions.

Activities are open to all students in certain grades.  Each webpage has the grades listed for their activity.  Spots are limited and reserved when payment is made via online registration process.

    4.  What if my child wants to join more than one activity that meets on the same day?

Please look at the meeting dates for each activity.  If meetings time overlap, then your child will have to pick one activity to join.  Please check the meeting dates because there are several activities/teams that meet on the same days.  Refunds will not be given.

     5.  What if my child makes more than one competition team?

Competition teams are very competitive and require lots of extra time outside of school especially right before competitions.  We suggest that your child choose one and commit 110% effort to that team.  It is not fair to the entire team, when a child is not completing their requirements because they don't have time to complete the work required to win competitions.  Your child must be able to attend all meetings and competitions.

    6. How do I register my child?

We will begin an online registration process using My Payments Plus .  Registration will require that you know and use your child's school ID number (this is their lunch account # and their computer login.) to set up an account and register.

Registration will remain open until all spots are filled.

    7.  Is there a fee?

Yes, every activity and team has a fee.  Fees cover the cost of instructors, supplies for the class, and competition fees for the teams.  All excess funds are put back into the school to help fund technology and instructional materials for teachers.

    8.  Do I need to notify my child's teacher?

Yes!  Please make sure that you email your teacher that your child has permission to stay after school for the activity.  Also, please make sure to notify the teacher sponsor if your child will be going to Dolphin Cove after their meeting or will be picked up at club dismissal.

    9.  What if my child misses school during the day?

Your child must be present at least 50% of the day in order to participate in after school activities.  If they are sent home with a fever, vomiting or diarrhea then they must be free of symptoms for 24 hrs and be in school for at least 50% of the day.
