6th Grade Social Studies
    Students will study the geography, history, economics and governments of Europe, Latin America, Australia and Canada in sixth grade. Geographically, students will analyze the cultures, location, and environmental issues of these four regions to further understand the way people live in these areas. Students will also study history from early colonization and exploration to present day issues. The history standards focus on conflicts that each of these regions have faced. Lastly, students will learn concepts of economics and government and how each applies to Europe, Latin America, Australia and Canada.

    Citation Machine: Helps students make proper reference citations for papers. This link is set to take the student to MLA format. If the student needs APA format, he/she will need to make sure to click APA on the left side of the screen.
    Fact Monster: Kid friendly site for searching about information about a wide variety of information. Similar to Yahooligans.
    World Atlas: Site contains current information about countries and links to several different types of maps for countries from around the world.
    Mr. Dowling.com: Contains information about different regions and countries from around the world. Includes information about history, culture, and current events.
