• Summer Reading

We believe that students become better readers when they are able to make choices about the books they read, and when they love the books they have chosen. This year’s Summer Reading Program is all about student choice. There are no assignments, just ways to help students find amazing books and have fun sharing their favorites!

Here are some online tools to help with summer reading:

How to Beat the Summer Slide

    Prevent the Summer Slide Infographic

    Scholastic Book Lists

Forsyth County Public Library Summer Reading Program registration

*Students can access MyON online books through Classlink

*Please note that the books on these sites are not required reading. These websites are simply provided to help students find great books to read for pleasure.

Try some of the tools above to get started on your relaxing summer reading!

The positive impact of summer reading has been well documented. Studies show that students who participate in summer reading programs and read a minimum of six books score higher in reading AND math when they return to school! We are so lucky here in Forsyth County to have a Public Library system that offers an amazing summer reading program for all ages! This year, the FCPL Rock and Roll themed plan has new prizes for logging in reading time, and a variety of exciting events at each branch all summer long! Check out the Program Guides for each library branch HERE!
