National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. And for more than 80 years, it has prepared today's students to be tomorrow's leaders.
MISSION STATEMENT
To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.
ACHIEVEMENT - Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement
CHARACTER - Preparing young people for life and empowering them to be successful

Believing that exemplary student effort and achievement should be encouraged and rewarded, and seeking to cultivate the ideals of service and leadership in our citizens of tomorrow, the governing body of the National Honorary Beta Club has instituted this organization for the promotion of these ideals and those stated in the Beta Creed, among elementary and secondary school students. To implement this purpose, the following articles have been adopted.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP
- Class Standing
- Current sophomore, junior, or senior students
- Academic Performance
- Maintain a 3.5+ GPA
- Must be invited to join the club. Invitations come out at the end of August each year. They are based on students' GPA status.
- If you are new to DHS, and want to join Beta Club, please reach out to Ms.Carroll for academic standing.
- Outstanding Behavior
- No discipline referrals or suspensions (ISS or OSS) for active members
- Attendance and Community Service
- DHS Beta has adopted a new point system for members to maintain membership
- Each member must get 50 points a semester.
- Here is a link to the Point System Sheet.
- ATTENDANCE
- Attendance is no longer a mandatory requirement.
- However, if a student attends all the meetings and completes all the meeting activities for that semester, it is a total of 32 points.
- Attendance is no longer a mandatory requirement.
- SERVICE HOURS
- Again, service hours are no longer a mandatory requirement. However, students can receive a majority of their points from this category.
- Community Service is one of the fundamental components of Beta Club, so we want to encourage our members to have at least two hours in this category each semester.
- If students complete one hour of volunteering for each category on the point sheet, they receive 18 points for the semester.
- Or if a student spends two hours at a beta volunteering event, that's 12 points.
- Or if a student spends 4 hours volunteering with an outside organization, that is also 12 points.
- BETA DOES NOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING HOURS:
- Baby Sitting
- Households Chores
- Walking Dogs
- Anything your parents/ guardians signed for.
- Anything in which payment was accepted.
- BETA DOES NOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING HOURS:
- Signed Membership Contract
- Once you recieve an invite from beta, a QR code will be located on the invite titled membership contract.
- You must complete the contract by October 1st to be considered a part of beta.
- The contract states that you are aware of the membership requirements, and failure to meet those requirements will result in removal from the club.
- Dues
- Beta Club Nationals requires each beta club member to pay $30 each year, plus $10 for each new member's certificate and pin.
- DHS New Member dues are $40 (includes national dues, certificate, pin, and T-shirt).
- DHS Returning Member dues are $30 (includes national dues, and T-shirt).
- Membership dues MUST be paid by the end of the deadline. The deadline is currently October 1st.
