The school nurse needs to be informed of any medical conditions that could affect your child while at school. It is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to inform the school, so proper care to be provided.

When will your child be sent home sick?

• Temperature of 100.4 or higher
• If the student is actively vomiting or having diarrhea
• Suspected pink eye or a suspicious rash
• If the student needs to be seen by a physician
• If the school nurse feels it is in the best interest of the child.

When should you keep your child at home?

• Temperature of 100.4 or higher – Students must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.
• They have diarrhea or vomiting in the last 24 hours
• They have a rash with itching or fever
• They have pink eye – red/pink eyes with white or yellow discharge. Student may not return to school until 24 hours after treatment has begun
• They have strep throat – student may not return to school until 24 hours after treatment has begun.
• They have the chickenpox and they need to stay home until all lesions are crusted over.
