The ASPIRE Program (Active Student Participation Inspires Real Engagement) takes social-emotional learning to another level by providing the student age-appropriate foundational skills that encourage self-awareness, self-determination and self-advocacy skills. K-5 students participate in a series of activities that can be adapted and modified to meet the unique learning styles and needs of the student. Although the K-5 activities are the same from year to year, the skill sets within the activities advance. Using each activity as a template or guide, the student is able to share (self-advocate) information about himself with the IEP team. This can then personalize the development of the IEP, leading towards a more meaningful, person-centered meeting. As the student moves to middle school and high school, ASPIRE expands self-advocacy to goal-setting, career exploration and Transition Planning through the use of assessments and activities provided by the YouScience platform or other adapted activities depending on the learning needs of the student.  All of these activities can be done at home (with the support of the parent/guardian) if the IEP team determines it is appropriate or if there isn't enough room in the student's daily schedule at school.
