The Forsyth Teacher Academy is proud to offer four endorsements: Online Teaching, English to Speakers of Other Languages, K-5 Mathematics, and Teacher Support and Coaching. Our endorsement courses are led by highly qualified instructors and are open to any FCS certified employee who meets the Georgia Professional Standards Commission requirements. Coursework is provided both face-to-face and online through itsLearning. See below for details.

English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Upon completion of the ESOL Endorsement, candidates will demonstrate an understanding of the TESOL 6 Principles For Exemplary Teaching of English Learners and the SIOP Model as evidenced in three key assessments: Cultural Community Case Study, Progressive Lesson Plans, and Clinical Observation. This interactive, blended format of professional learning provides candidates with opportunities to examine their own cultural beliefs and learn how to ensure their instruction values the assets of the Culturally and Linguistically diverse student. Teachers who complete this course sequence will add the ESOL endorsement to their certificates.

Teacher Support and Coaching (TSC)
The program prepares educators to mentor and coach novice and experienced teachers and teams. Throughout two courses (from August through May), candidates will be required to work with a protégé (mentee), team, and/or whole staff. The instructional and internship phases will be delivered in a hybrid format, with three or four in-person meetings each semester and weekly virtual sessions. Candidates will obtain two endorsements (teacher support and instructional coaching) when successfully completing the program.
This is a rigorous endorsement that requires outside work and reflection. Participants will be required to work as teacher leaders and practice coaching in their building. Collaboration and professionalism is expected.

Online Teaching Endorsement (OTE)
The Online Teaching Endorsement prepares teachers to design and deliver instruction in the online environment. Throughout the three course endorsement, candidates will be introduced to all topics regarding online instruction, practice delivering instruction in the online environment, and design online learning activities. The total contact hours for this endorsement is 100 hours and each course will last approximately 3 months. After an initial face-to-face cohort meeting, classes will be taught online asynchronously. Teachers who complete this course sequence will add the Online Teaching endorsement to their certificates.

K-5 Mathematics
The K-5 mathematics endorsement program prepares teachers to use the most up-to-date, research-based instructional practices in elementary classrooms. It also prepares teachers for prospective math coaching roles. The 2023 program will include an intentional focus on the new GA standards progressions.
Candidates take a deep dive into K-6 mathematics content and NCTM’s 8 Effective Teaching Practices throughout 3 courses. Residency requirements include 3 different classroom observations, unit design, and PLC work. Beast Academy is also used for content knowledge development. 80% face-to-face and 20% remote (asynchronous).
