    I have been teaching for several years and have loved every minute of it! I have taught third grade, fourth grade, interrelated second and third grade, and specialized instruction.     Ahoy! My name is Michelle Carney! This will be my first year as a Pirate and 13th in education. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, am Special Ed. Certified, and hold a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University. I most recently taught Kindergarten, and prior to that, I worked with 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students with special academic needs. I have been in Forsyth County since 1997 and love our community. My husband (of 16 years) and I have two sons in 6th and 3rd grades. I also have a bonus son (age 26) who is a former Marine! For me, the most valuable reward as a teacher is making long lasting connections with students and families. I am thankful and blessed to become a Poole's Mill Pirate and cannot wait to meet the students.

    I have been teaching special needs preschool in Forsyth County since 2004. I have a B.S. in Special Education from Georgia Southwestern State University and a Master's in Moderate and Severe Handicaps from Georgia State University. I am just as excited to support my students and their families as I was my first year.

     Dalziel  Valerie Dalziel
    Hi! My name is Valerie Dalziel. I have a Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern, a Masters from Piedmont College, and a Specialist from West Georgia - all in special education. I have been teaching special education since 2009 and I'm so excited to be a part of the Poole's Mill Family!

     Haley  Marie Haley
    I graduated from Wheelock College in Boston, MA in 1992 with a degree in Early Childhood Education and Young Children with Special Needs. I began my teaching career in Fulton County, working in the special needs Pre-K/Kindergarten department for 16 years. I received my Master's Degree in Interrelated Special Education from the University of North Georgia in 2001. I worked in Columbia, SC for 2 years in a self-contained classroom for children with specific learning disabilities. I have spent the last 12 years in the Interrelated Special Education Department at Mashburn Elementary. I have had the privilege of working at Poole’s Mill Elementary since it opened in August 2020.

    Jennings  Casie Jennings

    Ahoy! This is my fourth year as a Pirate! This year, I will be teaching Reach for grades K-2. Before transferring to Poole’s Mill, I taught K-5 Special Education at Cumming Elementary, Silver City Elementary, and Daves Creek Elementary. I am a graduate of the University of North Georgia and have a Master’s degree in Special Education through Georgia Southern University. I also have a reading and autism endorsement. My husband and I live in Forsyth County and are blessed with three precious children. I look forward to serving the students and families of PME!

    loudermilk Melissa Loudermilk

    My name is Melissa Loudermilk and I am excited to be joining Poole's Mill as an ACA teacher this year. I was a Paraprofessional at Matt Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year and previously a preschool teacher for 5 years.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia. I have a very personal passion for ACA - my oldest son has ASD and went through his elementary years in an ACA class in Forsyth. 

    My husband I have lived in Forsyth County for almost 15 years. We have 2 sons, one going into college this fall and the other a junior at FCHS. As a family we love to travel, go to sporting events, go to the movies, and enjoy time outside. I am thrilled to be at Poole's Mill and cannot wait to have so much fun this school year!

    Hi! My name is Courtney Martin. I graduated from the University of North Georgia with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education. I received my Master’s degree in Integrated Curriculum with a focus of study in Special Education from American College of Education. I am passionate about empowering students to be their very best self within our classroom and beyond! I enjoy spending quality time with my husband, Patrick, and our families. I am so excited to continue being a Poole’s Mill Pirate and cannot wait for an amazing school year!

    Hi, Pirates! My name is Katie Mendez! I graduated from North Georgia College and State University in 2008 and earned my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education & Special Education with a Reading Endorsement. I have been a Special Education teacher since 2009! My husband Robert and I are natives of Forsyth County Schools and live locally in the community! Our children, Robert and Anniston, are Poole’s Mill Pirates as well! We are all excited for another fantastic year at Poole’s Mill Elementary School!

    Hi! My name is Stacey MacLean and I have been at Poole's Mill since it opened and in Forsyth County for many years. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, two special education certifications, and a gifted certification. I love working with students to help them grow and reach their individual goals!

    This will be my second year teaching here at Poole’s Mill Elementary! Previously, I have taught EIP, inclusion preschool, elementary special education, and have worked in early intervention with babies and toddlers with developmental delays and their families. I have my Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and my Master’s in Special Education. My family and I love traveling, hiking, exploring the mountains, and fostering dogs.     I am so excited to be a Poole's Mill Pirate this school year as one of the PreK teachers!  This is my 20th year as a special education teacher.  I am a graduate of Forsyth Central and the University of North Georgia.  I have degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Special Education.  I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my own two children play baseball and softball.

    Hi! My name is Heidi Sweat. I am a Forsyth County native. I graduated from Liberty University with a Masters of Arts in Teaching PreK-6th grade, as well as from Georgia State University with a Bachelor's in Speech Language Communications and Psychology. I have served in Specialized Instruction, IRR K-12, 4th grade, 2nd grade, and I taught 6th grade at a private school. I have two kids with my husband, Cody, and enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible with my family and friends. My passion is inspiring a love for learning and a belief in success.

    Hi Pirates! This is my 4th year teaching IRR here in Forsyth County, and I am so excited to join Poole’s Mill Elementary! I have lived in Forsyth my whole life and graduated from North Forsyth high school. I have a Bachelor's in Elementary and Special Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have an endorsement in Reading and an endorsement in teaching strategies for people with Dyslexia. I live here in Forsyth with my husband Jesse and our two cats, Oliver and Ana. I can’t wait to start this new adventure here at Poole’s Mill Elementary School!

    wingard Kaitlin Wingard

    Hi! My name is Kaitlin Wingard! This is my second year teaching SBA! I started my career at Denmark High School, and now I’m here at Poole's Mill Elementary!  I'm super excited to be a part of the pirate ship! I got my degree at Mississippi State University. I did all of my student teaching in elementary schools in Mississippi. I was born and raised in Cumming, Georgia and attended Forsyth County Schools. I have a huge passion for special education, and every day I’m so incredibly thankful for my career!
