I look forward to my first year as a Special Education IRR teacher. This is my 27th year of teaching in Forsyth County. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.  I have also been an instructional technology specialist, teaching every grade from kindergarten through 5th grade and the virtual teacher for 4th grade at one time. I have been married to my husband Shawn for over 22 years, and we have 2 children, Sara and Zachary.  I also have 5 fur babies: my German shepherd, Dooley, and my cats Austin, Ali, Coco, and Cami. I graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Business.  I worked for two business corporations and then decided to return to school to acquire my teaching degree.  I returned to Lee University and became certified to teach grades Pre-K through 8th grade.  I also attended Lesley University where I received my master's in educational technology. In 2021-2022 I completed my Online Virtual Teaching Endorsement. I believe in learning hands-on and through real-life examples to better prepare students for the future.

I am excited about beginning another year at Matt Elementary. I taught 3rd for three years, then moved to 4th, and now am IRR. I have a BS in Accounting from the University of Alabama and returned to school to receive my teacher's certification from the University of West Georgia in 2011. I love watching kids grow and learn. There is nothing more exciting than helping them to achieve that "aha" moment after struggling with a new concept. My husband, Ted and I have been married 24 years and have two beautiful daughters; Sarah Kate and Rileigh, who both attend the University of Alabama. When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family and watching Alabama football.

This is my 11th year teaching in Forsyth County as a Special Education Teacher. I have been a special education teacher for almost 20 years and have worked with Kindergarten through Junior High students in Minnesota, Florida, and now Georgia! I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Elementary Education, and several teaching endorsements for Special Education, ESOL, and a Reading Endorsement. My son recently graduated from North Forsyth High School and now attends UNG-Dahlonega. We chose this county to live in when we moved here because of the school district, and I am blessed to work here so close to home and family.
