We are so excited to welcome our Comets to the 2020-2021 school year! Due to the start of the school year changing to August 13th, our Open House details have changed. We will now host Open House on Tuesday, August 11 for all grade levels and we will provide both virtual and in-person options for our families. Teachers of face-to-face students and teachers of virtual students will reach out to families on August 6 or 7 to introduce themselves and provide details about the “Meet and Greet”.
Each Kindergarten student and one parent/guardian are invited to Silver City to visit their child’s classroom and have a quick “Meet and Greet” during designated sessions from 2:00-4:00pm. Please do your best to come at the time assigned to your last name so that we can keep our crowds to a minimum and allow time to clean between sessions. Students who chose face-to-face instruction and those who chose to start the year in our virtual environment are both invited during this time. According to our FCS Reopening Guidelines, adults must wear a mask to enter the building and have their temperature taken. If you prefer to meet your child’s teacher virtually, you can arrange that with them when they call you to introduce themselves.
1st – 5th Grade Students
Open House for students in 1st-5th grades will take place outside and under the awning in the car lane. A detailed map with teacher names and locations will be shared soon, along with an infographic sharing specific times by grade level and last name. Please do your best to come at the time assigned to your last name so that we can keep our crowds to a minimum and allow time to clean between sessions. Students who chose face-to-face instruction and those who chose to start the year in our virtual environment are both invited during these times. Teachers will only be available during the designated grade level times listed.
If you ordered a school supply box, it will be waiting for you to pick-up with your teacher at Open House. Teachers will email you regarding which school supply items should be brought to school with your child on the first day. The rest of the items can be kept at home until needed. Teachers will accept donated items at Open House, like Kleenex, Lysol Wipes, Paper Towels, Hand Sanitizer, etc.
Only those students who will begin the school year as online learners will participate in a live “Online Learning Orientation” with their teacher through a digital platform. This orientation will be in addition to the in-person or virtual “Meet and Greet” you schedule with the teacher. Specific details regarding how to access the meeting will be provided by your child’s teacher. Please check the graphic below for the Online Learning Orientation schedule.
If you have any questions regarding our Open House plans, please reach out to Deborah Carnes or Kelly Fuchs through email.
