
About Our Director:
Liz Savage joins the herd from Colquitt County High School, Moultrie GA, where she was Director of Bands. Following being awarded the William D. Revelli Award through Bands of America in 1998, Mrs. Savage earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Jacksonville State University in 2002. Since 2002, she has also served as Director of Bands at Eighth Street Middle School in Tifton, GA as well as Director of Bands at Handley Middle and High School in Roanoke, AL. In 2007, Mrs. Savage was recognized as Teacher of the Year at Eighth Street Middle School.
Under her direction, the Colquitt County High School ``50th Regiment” band has grown from 100 members to an expected 220 members this coming fall. Her bands have received consistent superior ratings at all marching and concert band events, including Large Group Performance Evaluation. Additionally, she and her husband Aaron’s percussion ensemble have performed at the Lassiter High School Percussion Symposium under the mentorship of Mike Lynch.
Under Mrs. Savage’s direction, the 50th Regiment has participated in a Mass band at the Daytona500 in 2013, Dunkin Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia in 2013 and 2019, and The Fiesta Flambeau Parade in San Antonio in 2017. Mrs. Savage’s ensembles (concert, jazz, marching, percussion ensembles) perform at many community events and make it their mission to be as actively engaged in the community as possible. Her numbers that get accepted into Honor Band, Region Band and second round cut for All-State have grown each year. CCHS Jazz Band has performed annually at the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s “ABAC Jazz Festival”.
Mrs. Savage is the chair of the Georgia Music Educators Association Adjudicator Committee. She has been a guest lecturer at Valdosta State University for the Tau Beta Sigma “Women in Music” celebration in February 2020 as well as a guest lecturer at Virginia Tech for students about to enter the student teaching field. She has studied under wonderful educators such as Alfred Watkins, Sue Samuels, Gary Gribble, David Starnes, Kenneth G Bodiford, and Victoria Delano. She is a member of Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators. She is a sought after adjudicator and an active clinician in the Southeast. Liz is married to Aaron Savage, and they have two sons. Jaxon Rylie, 8 and Cooper Miles. 4. They enjoy their family trips to Universal Orlando Resort, Alabama and Auburn football, and trips to the beach.
