AVTF at Forsyth Central, or Central Studios, is a comprehensive pathway course that focuses on preparing students to be the next generation of filmmakers in Georgia’s growing film industry. Students will learn about all phases of filmmaking that go from idea to final cut and everything that goes on in between.

They will gain hands-on experience with many of the same tools used by the pros to create everything from PSAs and commercials to short film and feature films. Along the way, there are opportunities to interact with industry professionals and attend work shops and film festivals (pending current COVID guidelines for the FCSS School system.)

Students will also have the opportunity to join our CTSO, SkillsUSA, where they will learn valuable workplace skills and get the opportunity to compete against other schools around Georgia in video and film production contests.

AVTF is also the backbone of the new Arts & Entertainments Institute at Forsyth Central High School (or A&E, for short) which is a cohort program designed to allow students to move forward together as they take not just AVTF courses but additional courses like Visual Arts 1, Acting for Film, Tech Theater, and Dramatic Writing. A&E students will start as Freshman and are the only ones eligible to take AVTF 4 as seniors where they will work on a feature length film capstone project with their cohort.
