    Meet Our Gifted Teachers

    Kingry

My name is Katie Kingry, and I have been living my dream for the last eleven years. It was such a blessing to become a Silver City Comet last year, and I am eager to see what this year holds! After graduating from North Forsyth High School, I enrolled in the University of North Georgia where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a reading endorsement. I later earned a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a gifted endorsement, and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have worked with gifted students for the past nine years. I enjoy sharing my love of learning with students and engaging them in authentic, challenging, and creative learning experiences.

    Souders

Hi Comets! I'm Mrs. Souders and I have the pleasure of being one of the Gifted Education teachers! This is my 13th year teaching (8th year as a Comet) and I bring experience from K, 1st, 3rd and 4th grades to the classroom. I began teaching in 2012 after graduating from the University of North Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood and Special Education and later earned my master's degree from Valdosta State University in 2017. I have a passion for nurturing young minds by having students communicate and collaborate with one another, think critically to solve real world problems and tap into their creativity. I live in the North Forsyth area with my husband Noah who teaches English at West Forsyth High School along with our 3 kiddos Vivian (5), Bennett (2) and Stetson (1). In my spare time, you'll find me hanging out with my family and trying to travel the world (when we can find childcare haha).

Hello Comet Families! My name is Meg Blake, and I have been a 4th grade teacher in Forsyth County since 2015 and also taught 3 years prior in Gwinnett County! I received my BS in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia while attending school on a soccer scholarship. I also have a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction with a Gifted Endorsement. I love exercising and reading mysteries in my free time. On the weekends, you can find me having fun at the lake with my family! I am so excited to join the Silver City community!

    Gifted Education Program

The Gifted Education Program in Forsyth County recognizes the diverse needs of children. Learning experiences in the gifted classroom at Silver City Elementary School will focus on developing cognitive learning, research and reference skills, as well as social emotional skills at each grade level. This differentiated curriculum considers the various learning styles of all students while placing a focus on higher order thinking skills, curiosity, creativity, risk-taking, and interpersonal relationships. Each interdisciplinary unit will help our gifted students learn how to confidently and successfully face a challenge both independently and collaboratively.
