21 Tips from the Class of 2021
Advice from War Eagles leaving the Nest to those beginning to Soar!
-
- Always be yourself and if other people don't like it, don't put yourself around those people.
- Don't procrastinate!
- Make everyday count and always try your hardest and make good relationships with your teachers.
- Grades matter but focus on yourself. Use your high school experience to better yourself instead of worrying about grades and work.
- You are more than just a number. Your class rank, gpa, act/sat scores, the number of aps you took, none of that means anything if you're unhappy. At one point, your substance as a person will matter much more than any of the numbers and even if you don't see that now, you have to trust that you will. Don't make that mistake now and don't go down that road. You're gonna end up exactly where you need to be.
- Join extracurriculars you like not just a lot of them. This is a great way to be involved in the community and make friends with similar interests
- Work hard and push through. Everyone goes through what you go through so don't feel embarrassed to reach out for help in anything.
- Soak in every moment and get involved!
- Don’t care so much about what people think and be involved in the school! You meet so many amazing people and can have such wonderful experiences!
- Take your time with things. Do not overwhelm yourself. Find classes that seem interesting and explore them. And make sure to have good time management skills!
- Find a balance between academic rigor and social endeavors. Too much of either will leave you stressed or unprepared.
- Adaptability is key, keep an open mind.
- The 4 years go by so much faster than you expect so enjoy them!
- Give everything you do your best shot (assignments, clubs, etc.), and it’s okay if it isn’t perfect.
- Try to find a balance in your schedule, where work isn’t controlling everything you do but social life isn’t your priority. Make friends that lead by example, and in the same vein, lead with love.
- Try your hardest to enjoy your 4 years of high school. Academics are very important and you should take them very seriously but in the midst of that don't forget to enjoy yourself because everyone you enjoy spending time will eventually go on their own paths and you'll wish that you cherished that time.
- Be on time with your work. Procrastinating can be very appealing but it hurts you in the long run.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
- Keep up with all missing work, as it can add up over time and mess you up when it really matters.
- Be confident in everything you do, cause there's no harm in trying!
- Study and pay attention to what your teacher says, it really helps.
