Midterm Exam Makeups
Students reporting to make up one or midterms should report to the Dining Hall (entering through the school's main entrance).
Students will be seated in a socially distanced fashion - in the event of space issues in the Dining Hall, students may be asked to relocate to our overflow location of the Blue Gym (adjacent to the Dining Hall).
Students may be taking either hard copy exams or online exams, depending on the class. In either case, all midterm makeups will be taken on campus. Students will be provided with a school Chromebook if they have any online exams to take.
If you have any concerns with your child reporting on the 4th or the 5th to make up their midterm, please communicate with their teachers as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements. Every reasonable attempt to allow your child to make up their midterm exam will be made.
How do I know if my child needs to make up a midterm?
Any missing midterm grades should be marked with a Missing notation in the gradebook in Parent Portal. This notation also causes the gradebook to calculate the assignment grade as a zero, so there may be a visible effect on your child's current grade.
If your child has made other arrangements to make up the midterm exam (other than attending either the January 4th or January 5th sessions), that should also be indicated with comments in the Parent Portal gradebook.
When will my child's grade be updated?
Teachers are prepared to grade and enter midterm exams as soon as they are completed, so your child's grade should be updated by the time report cards are released on Friday, January 7th. Any midterm exams that are not made up by the 5th will result in the current grade of a 9 being submitted when grades are finalized for first semester. If the exam is made up at a later date, a grade change form will need to be completed by the teacher. If you have any concerns about your child's grade related to seniors' mid-year transcripts, athletic eligibility, etc., please ensure that your child makes up their exams by the 5th.
All students are encouraged to report on January 4th to make up their midterm exam, in order to facilitate correct grade entry for semester grades and athletic eligibility. If your child cannot attend on January 4th, they can attend on January 5th (same place and time).
The makeup session will run until 12:30 PM - however, students who need more time because of the number of exams or IEP accommodations will be allowed to stay longer.
Students are free to report at a time later than 9:30 AM, but those who report later than 10:00 AM will not be granted extra time under any circumstances.
