Elective Selections
January 24 at 8:00 am - January 30th at 4:00 pm
-
Please click on STEPS 1-4 below and read carefully to ensure you are completing your Elective Selections accurately and completely.
-
STEP 1: Log into Student/Parent Portal
If you do not have a Student/Parent Portal account:
Parent/Legal Guardians- Please come into the school with your picture identification to request or you may upload (Click Here for Our Secure Parent Portal Document Upload) a copy of your valid (not expired) picture identification (driver's license, state identification card, or passport) to request. Click here for Online Parent Portal Request Instructions with Screenshots Please contact Cindy Little, Parent Liaison (parentportal@forsyth.K12.ga.us) should you have any questions or need further assistance.
Students- Please contact the Instructional Technology Specialist at your school for assistance.
On the left-hand side of your screen towards the bottom, select "More".
Then, select "Course Registration".
Then, select "South Forsyth High School".
-
STEP 2: Viewing Course Recommendations
The next screen to appear will show you the courses your student has been recommended for next year. These will be listed under the title "Required".
You will also notice at the top of the screen a percent complete bar and Units (xx/xx). Each course is comprised of units. Normally, a year-long course equals 4 units and a semester course equals 2 units.
You will be able to select Elective courses until you reach the maximum of 28 units. All courses requested after the 28 units will be Alternate courses.
-
STEP 3: Adding Electives to Course Requests
At the bottom of the screen is a blue box labeled "Add Course".
After clicking "Add Course" you will see a list of all elective course options. If you know the course number or course name you can type it in the search bar or if you see it listed, select the arrow next to the course name.
A new screen will appear...if you see "Course History" listed, this means the student has already taken or is currently taking the course. Do not select the course. Select "back" and make another choice.
If you do not see "Course History" listed, then you can select "Add Request".
Once you select a course, it will put a red "X" next to that course. If you selected the course in error or you would like to change your selection, just select the course again and a pop-up screen will appear asking if you would like to delete the course request.
-
STEP 4: Adding Alternates to Course Requests
We cannot guarantee all students will receive their first-choice elective course requests. Therefore, it is important students choose 3 Alternates they would be happy taking. If students do not provide any Alternates, they will be randomly placed in a class(es) that is available.
Once you have selected enough courses (the completion bar at the top is 100% complete), you need to select at least 3 alternate courses. You will follow the same procedure you did when selecting your elective request except you will choose "Add Alternate".
Once that is complete, select the "Back" arrow at the top. This will bring you back to the main screen and show you all courses requested and your alternates. You have the option to make any corrections. You have the option to select the "Print" button at the bottom.
