D3 Day Supports “Treat The Troops”
The purpose of “Treat The Troops” is to let our American military personnel, who are deployed overseas, know that people at home are remembering them. Home-baked cookies and other “comfort Items,” along with a note of thanks, are sent via the U.S. Postal Service. The boxes are addressed to a specific soldier at an APO (Army & Air Force) or FPO (Navy & Marine) number. “Treat The Troops” does not take a position on whether or not our troops should be in the country to which they are deployed. It is important, however, that we, the American People, let these troops know that we care and are appreciative of the hardships and risks they must endure every day for our country. Letters received from soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen prove that these packages from home are greatly appreciated and that they do boost morale.
For this year’s “Treat The Troops” packages we are collecting the following items:
- Magazines
- Handwritten Letters saying Thank You
- Beef Jerky
- Drink Packets
- Lip Balm
- Hard Candy (no chocolate)
- Homemade Cookies (stay tuned for details…collection for this item will be later in May)
Donation boxes will be located in the Commons area outside counseling from Monday, April 11th – Friday, May 20th.
