Welcome

  • The Mathematics program at Lakeside Middle School is challenging and rigorous at each level that is offered. Teachers follow the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Mathematics as well as county guidelines. In 8th grade there are three different levels of math.

Algebra 1: In this course, students master any 8th grade standards not already covered that are necessary for success in Algebra I.  Students also learn all Algebra I content in-depth as well as additional materials above and beyond the Algebra I standards.   The expected path for these students is to take Geometry or Honors Geometry as freshmen. A few high-achieving and very motivated students may elect to take both Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra II as freshmen.

Accelerated Algebra 1: In this course, students master all of the Algebra I standards as well as the first semester of Honors Geometry Standards.  The expected path for these students is to take Accelerated Algebra II/Geometry B Honors as freshmen.

Across my two decades of dedicated teaching experience, both in private and public education, I continue to enjoy my role as an 8th-grade math teacher at Lakeside Middle School, where I have educated students for the past 10 years.  I am a proud graduate of the University of Georgia (Go DAWGS!) and have earned both bachelor's and master's degrees.  Outside of school, I am a proud mom of two sons and enjoy spending time with them and my husband.

I am committed to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for mathematics and strive to deliver engaging lessons in a supportive classroom environment.

I am in my 25th year of teaching.  I have previously taught 5th grade at Daves Creek Elementary since 2018.  I have taught K-5, as well as 7th grade IRR Math in Florida and Georgia (Dekalb and Fulton).  I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama and my Masters Degree in Specific Learning Disabilities from Nova Southeastern University.  I am ESOL and Gifted Endorsed. I am excited to join the Lakeside family teaching IRR Math.  I can’t wait to share my passion for math with my students, as well as my co-workers.  When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my dog, Bella, heading to Florida to see family, and going to see live music with friends.
