Benita Gibbons - Math Coach

After graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, I began my teaching career in Florida where I taught 4th and 5th grade for 12 years. My family then decided to leave the heat and humidity of SW Florida and move to Forsyth County, where I joined the KME family in 2013. Since then, I have taught 5th-grade math, EIP Math K-5, earned my Specialist degree, and worked as the 504 and MTSS Coordinator. I am now in my 2nd year supporting teachers and students as the Math Instructional Coach. This is going to be a fantastic year!

Heidi Makowski - Literacy Coach

I am starting my 26th year working in Forsyth County Schools. This is my second year serving as an Instructional Coach at KME. I am a UGA grad and love my red and black-Go Dawgs! I have two daughters who are following in my footsteps as future educators. Sophie is a senior at UGA and is currently student teaching in Buford City Schools and Ellie is a sophomore at UNG studying art education. My husband moved to Georgia from Buffalo, NY and has fallen in love with everything about the south (he still loves his Bills though). I am so excited to support the important literacy work with all of our Colts, big and small!

Sara White - Behavior Intervention Coach

Behavior Intervention Coach

Hello Colt Family! I'm Sara White, and I'm thrilled to begin my 23rd year in education as a Behavior Intervention Coach at Kelly Mill. Over the course of my career, I've had the privilege of teaching grades K-5, both as a general education and special education teacher, as well as serving as a Behavior Coach. When I'm not immersed in my passion for education, you'll find me enjoying time with my husband, Jon, our three children—Jaden (19), Maya (17), and Hollyn (11)—and our two doggies, Gunner (9) and Scout (7). We love spending time at the lacrosse field, relaxing by our pool, or visiting our eldest, Jaden, at the University of Tennessee—GO VOLS! Not only do we wear orange for UT, but we're also die-hard Miami Hurricane fans - GO U - so lots of orange! Come this fall, I'll proudly be incorporating plenty of blue into my wardrobe when the new school year starts to show my Colt family spirit! Together, let's create an inclusive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.
