I am passionate about students having access to books as well as joyful learning spaces beyond the classroom. I was an English Language Arts teacher before taking this opportunity, and am only too aware of the research that shows us how the more access to books a student gets, the better their learning outcomes will be! As a founding educator here at DeSana, I am very passionate about helping our students to have more opportunities in multiple ways. As we like to say, #WeAreDeSana!
Originally from the United Kingdom, I was originally certified in Iowa as K-8 in Social Studies, Science and English Language Arts (ELA). I then moved to Forsyth in 2015 and became ELA certified to teach here in Georgia. I was at Piney Grove Middle School for one year, then came to DeSana the year we opened. I have taught both sixth and seventh grade.
My husband Paul and I have two children. Stephanie, who lives in Perth, Australia and Ben, who lives in Atlanta. We have a horse, Sunny, and two dogs - Toffee Girl and Yuffie.
My goal this year is to make our Media Center so much more than a library - from Legos to jigsaws and so much more. Students will be welcomed into the Media Center to practice creative thinking skills as well as have a place to read.

Great teachers emanate out of knowledge, passion and compassion - APJ Abdul Kalam
I work towards inspiring people and making them accountable for themselves. Being a teacher for 14 years has taught me how to help students see their strengths and motivate them to learn new skills.
I believe that education is about being excited about learning and having the love of learning something new. I enjoy being the bridge between these two goals, which help our students' future resemble a sunrise instead of a sunset.
This is my third year at DeSana and I love my role here. My husband Madhu and I have 2 children. Our daughter, Neharika, is a sophomore at UGA. Our son , Mehul, is a senior at Alliance Academy. We have called Forsyth county our home for the past 15 years. We enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures.
As a lover of reading different genres of books, I am hoping to inspire more kids to see the world through words on a page.
