    25 Exam Reg

    2025 AP EXAM REGISTRATION INFORMATION

    Registration will open on September 3rd, 2024 @ 12:00 pm and close on October 22, 2024 @ 4:00 pm.

    STEP-BY-STEP AP EXAM REGISTRATION PRESENTATION

Please read all of the information below concerning 2025 AP Testing.

Directions for Registration: In-Person AP Courses

    • All students must register for AP exams online. Siblings must register separately. Each student needs his/her own individual registration.
    • The AP Exam registration is a two step- two website- process again this year:

STEP 1:  Students should have already enrolled into their AP course on the College Board (CB) website, using a join code provided by the teacher. If a student needs a join code, please contact your teacher or AP Coordinator. Students MUST keep up with their CB account login information. We do not have access to student accounts.

    • Students MUST indicate in each AP course on the College Board website whether they will take the exam in May or not, by changing the Order Exam status from "Undecided" to "Yes".
    • Link to the College Board website: https://www.collegeboard.org/

STEP 2:  College Board does not collect exam payments; it only collects the exam order information from students. Therefore, students must also log in to/create their Total Registration account to make payment.

    • Total Registration is used each year to pay for PSAT and AP exams.  Students should use the same account and login information.  If students already have a TR account, they should look for the  “Have you previously registered? Login here.” link.
    • If a student does not have a TR account, he/she must create an account.  The account should use the student’s email address - not a parent’s email address.
    • Be sure the student's personal information and email are the same as those used in the student's MY AP College Board account.
    • Link to the TR website: https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/111000
    • If you register for your one free STEM exam and do not sit for the exam, you will be required to pay the $40 restocking fee charged by College Board

    Registration Deadlines:

    • Registration for all exams begins on September 3, 2024 @ 12:00 pm and will conclude on October 22 @ 4:00 pm.
    • For GAVS Courses beginning in January - exam registration will end at 12:00 pm on Thursday, February 20th.
    • NO CHANGES OR ADJUSTMENTS TO EXAM ORDERS WILL BE PROCESSED AFTER FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH

    Cost for taking AP exams:

For 2025 Testing, the College Board charges $99.00 for each exam. In addition, students will pay a one-time administrative fee each year to offset the cost of testing materials, substitutes, etc.  All high schools in Forsyth County charge a one-time fee of $25.00 regardless of how many exams a student takes.

The cost/ for exams will be as follows:

    1 exam   =  $124.00 (includes the exam fee of $99. 00 plus a one-time administrative fee of $25.00)

    2 exams =  $223.00

    3 exams =  $322.00

    4 exams =  $421.00

    5 exams =  $520.00

Is there a late registration period and how much is the late fee?

Students registering for exams in courses that begin in August will be assessed a $40 late registration fee after October 22nd.  This fee is charged by the College Board and cannot be canceled by the school.  The school does not charge additional fees for registering between October 22nd – February 28th.

    Can I cancel my exam?

Regular registration students can cancel exams until November 15, 2024 with no charge.

If regular registration students cancel exams after November 15, 2024, you will not be refunded your entire payment. College Board will only refund $57 per test after November 15, 2024.

If you cancel after November 15th you will receive a partial refund minus the $40 cancelation fee. The $25.00 administrative fee is non-refundable after November 15, 2024 for yearlong AP courses  and after February 28, 2025 for Spring semester-only AP courses.

Does the State of Georgia pay for one STEM exam per student?

Students enrolled in STEM classes will be allowed to take their first AP STEM exam at a reduced cost. STEM students will only pay the administration fee of $25.00. Approval for any registration with a STEM exam will be required; therefore, STEM students cannot pay for exams at the time of registration.

You must indicate at the time of test registration that you are taking a STEM exam to receive the $99.00 credit.

When STEM students register on Total Registration, they will be asked if they are taking at least one STEM exam. This is called a “special waiver.”

Once a student has indicated s/he is taking a STEM exam, the registration is paused so that the school can verify this information. Once the fee waiver is verified, TR does NOT notify the student that they may now proceed with registration and make payment. Students need to go back into their TR accounts within 48 hours of initial registration to check on the status of their registration and make payment.

Is there a reduced cost for students with financial difficulty?

Students who have applied and met Federal Free/Reduced Lunch criteria will receive a maximum of two exams free of charge. They may receive additional exams at a reduced rate.

When registering for exams, students are asked if they meet Free/Reduced Lunch criteria. If the student indicates that they do meet Free/Reduced Lunch criteria, the registration process is paused until confirmation of this information.

Does the State of Georgia pay for one exam per student?

The state of Georgia will pay for one AP exam for Georgia public school students enrolled in AP courses in one of two categories:

    • Category One : Students are public school students who individually qualify for the College Board fee reduction (example: Free Reduced Lunch).  For these students, the state of Georgia will pay for one AP in any subject (except for AP Seminar and AP Research exams).
    • Category Two: Public school students enrolled in AP STEM courses who do not qualify for the College Board fee reduction may qualify for one free AP STEM exam.

    • Students  enrolled in STEM classes will be allowed to take their first  AP STEM exam at a reduced cost. STEM students will  only need to pay the administration fee of $25.00.
    •  When students register for payment in Total Registration, and they are taking a STEM course they must select “yes” for the Special Waiver question.
      • Their registration will be placed in a hold queue to verify the STEM course.
      • Once it is verified, the exam fee waiver of $99 will be deducted from their fee ledger and the registration will be released for payment.
      • Total Registration DOES NOT notify students they may now proceed with registration payment.
      • Students need to go back into their TR accounts within 48 hours of initial registration to check on the status of their registration and make payment.
      • It is the student’s responsibility to indicate at the time of test registration they are taking a STEM exam and select “yes” to the Special Waiver question to receive the $99.00 credit.
    • Students may receive either the Free and Reduced Lunch waiver OR the STEM AP Exam waiver not both.

FOR ALL VIRTUAL STUDENTS:  You must register through your base school.  Should you return to your base school, you must use a transfer code for AP Classroom and AP testing purposes.  Please see your base school’s coordinator.
