This is my 10th year as a school counselor. Before counseling I was a classroom teacher for 6 years. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina. I soon realized I wanted to impact student achievement through social and emotional learning, so I obtained my Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University. I also have a Specialist degree in Counseling & Supervision from the University of West Georgia and work as a Licensed Professional Counselor, where I specialize in finding solutions to the emotional, behavioral, and psychological barriers to the personal wellness of children and adolescents. I enjoy building relationships and inspiring children to be and do their personal best. I look forward to a wonderful and rewarding school year at Mashburn Elementary School!

This is my first year at Mashburn, and I am so excited to be a Blue Bear! I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Science from the University of Georgia. I knew that I wanted to work in counseling, and I quickly discovered that I had a strong desire to work with students of all ages through academic, college/career, and social/emotional learning. I obtained my Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University. I also believe that school counselors should always be lifelong learners, so I am currently completing my Specialist in Education degree in School Counseling at Georgia State University. I believe that every child has the ability to achieve their goals and dreams, and I consider it a privilege to have the opportunity to love, support, and encourage them as they journey through elementary school! I am looking forward to an amazing first year at Mashburn!
The purpose of Mashburn’s school counseling program is to provide and support the delivery of specific skills and information in a proactive, preventive manner to ensure that all students can achieve school success. Our program serves to provide intervention and referral services for those students who are experiencing difficulties in their lives which interfere with their academic achievement. We serve as the program leader, and collaborate with community stake-holders, administration, and other school staff in the delivery of these services.
